Doctrinal Statement

What we believe concerning the Bible.

We believe the Bible to be verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit and inerrant in the original manuscripts. It has been preserved such that it remains the infallible and authoritative Word of God (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:16-21; Psalm 19:7-11; Matt. 5:17-18; I Peter 1:23-25).

What we believe concerning God.

We believe in the triune Godhead manifest in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe each is equal in power, and each has His own particular work, and yet they work in perfect harmony (Matt. 28:19; I John 5:1-8).

What we believe concerning Jesus Christ.

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ and His virgin birth, that He became perfect man yet remained perfect God. He lived a perfect and sinless life (John 1:1-14; John 10:30; Col. 1:9-17; Heb. 1:1-8; Matt. 1:23; John 20:28; I John 5:20; Rom. 9:5; Phil. 2:5-11).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He ascended bodily into the heavens and is now at the right hand of the Father as our Mediator, Priest and Advocate (John 20; Acts 3:12-26; 1 Cor. 15:12-28; Acts 1:9; Heb. 7:25; Heb. 9:24).

What we believe concerning Salvation.

We believe in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He by the grace of God tasted death and shed His precious blood for every man, therefore all must be born again or be forever lost (Heb 2:9; I Pet 2:24; John 3:1-21; John 6:44-69).

We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and are sinners in thought, word and deed. Because of this condition, the new birth is necessary (Psa. 51:5; Psa. 58:3; Rom. 5:12; Ezek. 18:20; Rom. 3:10-26). See further explanation on our “Gospel” page.

We believe all true believers once saved shall be kept saved forever (I Peter 1:3-5; John 10:27-29).

What we believe concerning the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Holy Spirit to be God, and that He is a Person, as personal pronouns are ascribed to Him (Acts 5:3-4; John 14:16-17; John 16:7-8).

We believe the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in every believer’s life from the moment he accepts the Savior, and being a Person, He comes in all His fullness to abide (John 14:17; Rom. 8:9-17; I Cor. 6:19-20).

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit in each individual life as taught by our Lord; His primary work being to glorify Christ in our lives and not Himself (John 16:13-15).

We believe in the gifts of the Spirit as given in Scripture. The word “gift” as used in this connection means a “God-given ability for service.” It is the right of the Holy Spirit to provide these “gifts” as He in His sovereignty shall choose. Thus not all believers will have the same gift, nor need us to pray for any particular gift. We believe the evidence of the baptism of the Spirit does not rest on any one gift, for no one gift is universal with every believer (I Corinthians 12:11- 28; Romans 12:4-8).

We believe that there is only one baptism of the Holy Spirit and it occurs simultaneously at the time of salvation. Through this baptism, the believer is identified with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. It is not a secondary work after salvation (Ephesians 4:3-6).

What we believe concerning Satan.

We believe in the personality and reality of Satan, called the Devil, and his present control over unregenerate mankind (Isaiah 14:12-17; Matt. 4:1-11; John 8:44; II Cor. 4:3-4; Rev. 12:9-10).

What we believe concerning Future Things.

We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ to rapture His church followed by the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ to literally reign for the millennium here on earth (I Thess. 4:13-18; I Cor. 15:50-55; Rev. 20:4).

We believe in the resurrection of the saved unto everlasting life and blessedness in Heaven and the resurrection of the unsaved unto everlasting punishment in Hell (John 5:28-29; Rev. 20:15).

What we believe concerning the Church.

We believe that the church is the Body or Bride of Christ and consists only of those who are born again through the blood of Christ (John 3:7).

We believe in Christ’s two-fold commission to the Church to evangelize the world and to disciple or teach the believers (Mark 16:15; Matt. 28:19-20).

We believe that every believer should be baptized according to the Word of God, and that this should be water baptism by immersion.
