Our History

Ruby Mountain Community Bible Church (now Ruby Mountain Bible Church) was incorporated on December 17, 1978, while meeting in a borrowed building. Don Decker, Don Allen, Randy Wetmore and Timothy Wetmore served on the first elder board. Timothy Wetmore, a graduate of Multnomah School of the Bible, was sent to northern Nevada under the direction of American Sunday School Union (now American Missionary Fellowship). Over the years many faithful men have led in service on the elder board. Timothy Wetmore remained the pastor/teaching elder until 2008, when he resigned. After a year of searching, Pastor Darrell Smith, a graduate of Bob Jones University, was chosen to be the new pastor/teaching elder. He served from 2009 to 2013, when the Lord called him to a different work. In 2014 Ruby Mountain Bible Church called Jeff South, a graduate of Northland Baptist Bible College, to be the new pastor.

Through the years the members of Ruby Mountain Bible Church have worked together in many ministries. They have become a family made of both young and old. Our current building was erected in 1981. In order to remain debt free, the members sacrificed both time and resources to build the structure. The members still serve in taking care of the building, refurbishing and remodeling as needed. In March of the same year, Ruby Mountain Christian School (now Spring Creek Christian Academy) began to serve the needs of our members, who served as principals, teachers and aids. The school grew and reached out to others in the community. Then in 2008, the school became a separate ministry, under new leadership, still meeting the needs of our community. The members also ran an annual week-long summer camp, Victory Bible Camp. Many of the members eagerly served as counselors, cooks, janitors and nurses to provide this outreach to the children of the community. Vacation Bible School has always been a large part of our summer programs, members reaching out to families in the area, by teaching, making crafts, singing and anything else needed. Ruby Mountain Bible Church began an AWANA Program in 1989, where again our faithful members serve to make it a success.

Today Ruby Mountain Bible Church still serves the community under the leadership of Pastor Jeff South and current elder board through a multitude of ministries. The hallmark of Ruby Mountain has been and continues to be service. We are a family made up of many different people all with the one goal of reaching our community with God’s Truth.
